The Raffle Sales Representative (RSR) training program is designed to equip college students with the necessary skills to successfully manage and execute the 50-50 raffle at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) events in partnership with D2L (Dream to Lead). The training program provides hands-on experience in sales, customer engagement, cash management, and event operations, all while contributing to D2L’s mission of supporting youth development through S.T.E.A.M.S. initiatives.

In addition to gaining valuable professional skills, RSRs have the opportunity to earn up to $20 per hour while working at FAU events. This provides a unique opportunity for students to both contribute to a meaningful cause and earn income for their work.

The goal is to prepare students to confidently carry out the tasks required of an RSR, engage event attendees, promote the 50-50 raffle, and manage transactions while ensuring the integrity and professionalism of the D2L brand.


Training Objectives:

  • Teach students how to sell raffle tickets effectively and engage with event attendees.
  • Provide clear guidelines for handling cash and electronic payments.
  • Instruct students on how to promote D2L’s mission and the purpose of the 50-50 raffle.

Training Structure:

The on-the-job training will be conducted in two phases: an initial training session followed by on-the-job shadowing and supervised practice during FAU events.

Phase 1: Initial Training Session (3 Hours)

Phase 2: On-the-Job Shadowing and Practice (5 Hours per Event)

1. Shadowing an Experienced RSR (First Event)

  • New RSRs will shadow an experienced representative during their first event, observing the full sales process in action.
  • They will learn how to approach event attendees, deliver sales pitches, handle transactions, and follow cash management procedures.
  • After each shadowing session, new RSRs will receive feedback on their observation and understanding of the role.

2. Supervised Practice (Second Event)

  • During their second event, RSRs will begin practicing sales with supervision.
  • They will interact with attendees, promote the raffle, and conduct transactions with the guidance of an experienced RSR or supervisor.
  • Supervised practice allows them to gain confidence in their skills while receiving real-time feedback.

3. Independent Practice (Subsequent Events)

  • By the third event, RSRs will work independently, managing their sales, customer interactions, and cash/electronic transactions.
  • Supervisors will be available to provide support, but the RSR will be responsible for their assigned tasks.
  • Ongoing feedback will be provided after each event to ensure continuous improvement and confidence in the role.

  • RSRs have the opportunity to earn up to $20 per hour during FAU events.

As an RSRA, students will support D2L’s mission of empowering youth through S.T.E.A.M.S. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Sports) by assisting Raffle Sales Representatives (RSRs) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) events.

This internship will provide students with hands-on experience in event operations, customer engagement, teamwork, and nonprofit support, while also helping them develop essential skills for future academic and career success.
